How it started
It started with a three-week holiday in Cape Town — and the realisation that we didn't want to go back. Two years later we were sitting in a half-furnished Airbnb in Bloubergstrand with three suitcases, our child, and a container somewhere on the high seas.
At that point we had done a lot of research, but had even more open questions. Most online guides were either shallow, outdated, or written by consultants trying to sell emigration as a product — not as a life.
This site is what we ourselves would have needed back then: honest, first-hand, no sales fluff. Including the mistakes we made. And there were quite a few.
Our mission
We want to be the first and most honest resource for German-speaking people moving to South Africa. Not theory — practical knowledge from everyday life. Not generic checklists — decision support for your specific situation.
